History

Zakynthos has a long history dating back to Neolithic times. It was part of the Kingdom of Odysseus and later influenced by Romans, Venetians, French, and British rule. It became part of Greece in 1864. Its strategic location made it a cultural and trade hub in the Ionian Sea.
