History

Patan was the capital of Gujarat under the Chalukya dynasty from the 8th to 13th centuries. Rani Ki Vav, built by Queen Udayamati in the 11th century, remains a symbol of the Solanki dynasty's architectural brilliance. The town's prominence in textile production, particularly Patola weaving, continues to this day.
