History

Formed over 400 million years ago, Phong Nha-Ke Bang is one of the oldest karst formations in Asia. During the Vietnam War, the caves were used as hospitals and hideouts. The discovery of Son Doong Cave in 2009, the world's largest cave, brought international attention to the park.
