History

Camiguin’s landscape has been shaped by volcanic activity, with Mount Hibok-Hibok’s eruption in 1951 being the most recent major event. The island was originally inhabited by Manobo tribes before Spanish colonization in the 16th century. The Sunken Cemetery, submerged due to a volcanic eruption, is now a popular historical and diving site.
