Uluwatu Temple

Uluwatu Temple, located on a 70-meter-high cliff, offers stunning coastal views and is an important Balinese Hindu temple. The temple is guarded by playful monkeys, believed to protect it from evil spirits. History

Dating back to the 11th century, Uluwatu Temple was built by Empu Kuturan, a revered Hindu sage. It was later expanded by Dang Hyang Nirartha, a spiritual figure who meditated at the site before achieving moksha (spiritual liberation). The temple is dedicated to the Hindu sea gods, symbolizing the balance of nature and spirituality.
